LT Foods Enters European Retail Market with New Organic Facility in Rotterdam

LT Foods, the Indian food company behind the popular Daawat basmati rice brand, has launched a major push into the European retail market by inaugurating a new organic food processing facility in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The facility, set up through its organic subsidiary Nature Bio Foods Limited, marks the company’s strategic shift from business-to-business (B2B) exports to direct business-to-consumer (B2C) retail across Europe. The initial investment for the 20,000 sq. meter plant stands at ₹20 crore, with plans to infuse an additional ₹15 crore over the next three years.

“The move is a bold step toward strengthening a traceable, efficient, and climate-conscious organic supply chain in Europe,” said Ashwani Arora, Managing Director and CEO of LT Foods, in a regulatory filing.

The Rotterdam facility will process a range of organic products, including rice, pulses, superfoods, and oilseeds such as flaxseed, sesame, buckwheat, chia, quinoa, sorghum, and cashews—sourced from India, Africa, and eventually over 20 countries.

According to Rohan Grover, CEO of Nature Bio Foods, the new plant is expected to generate additional ₹400 crore in revenue over the next five years, starting from FY2026-27. The company also reported early interest from major European retailers, especially in Germany and the Benelux region.

The European Union’s organic food market is currently valued at €45 billion, providing a strong growth opportunity for LT Foods’ expanding global footprint in the organic segment.

This move aligns with the company’s broader strategy of building a sustainable, climate-friendly supply chain and leveraging India’s agricultural strengths for global organic markets.
