Bikaji Partners with Nepal’s Chaudhary Group in 50:50 JV to Fuel Global Growth

To expand its global footprint, Bikaji Foods International has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Nepal’s Chaudhary Group (CG Foods) – the makers of Wai Wai noodles. The partnership aims to manufacture, trade, and market Bikaji’s entire product portfolio through a new state-of-the-art facility that both companies will co-invest in and develop in Nepal.

“This partnership seeks to create value, empower communities, fortify supply chains and enhance Nepal’s food ecosystem,” said Deepak Agarwal, Managing Director of Bikaji Foods.

Varun Chaudhary, Director of CG Foods Nepal, echoed the sentiment, stating the JV would “create long-term value for Nepal, from generating employment to strengthening supply chains.”

The collaboration marks a key step in Bikaji’s bid to expand beyond India, as the Rs 47,000-crore Indian snacks market becomes increasingly competitive, driven by double-digit growth. Industry majors such as Haldiram, ITC, Parle, Balaji Wafers, and Yellow Diamond are also expanding rapidly.

Earlier this year, Haldiram Snacks Food on boarded global investors, including Temasek, Alpha Wave Global, and International Holding Company (IHC), to boost its international presence.

According to IMARC Group, the Indian snacks market is projected to reach Rs 95,521.8 crore by 2032, driven by rising consumer demand, regional snacking preferences, and international expansion strategies by Indian brands.

The JV also reflects Nepal’s growing importance as a manufacturing and distribution hub in South Asia, especially for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Short Comparison with India’s Regulations:
While India tightens its food safety and labeling norms under FSSAI, companies like Bikaji are using regional JVs to maintain agility, reduce trade barriers, and scale operations across borders, especially in South Asian markets like Nepal, where food manufacturing ecosystems are being rapidly developed.
