The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) is actively working towards fulfilling its targets under the Special Campaign 5.0, which aims to promote efficiency, transparency, and cleanliness within government offices.
As the campaign completed its first fortnight of implementation, notable progress has been recorded across the Department and its PSUs, attached, and subordinate offices. During these two weeks, a total of 1,54,498 physical files were reviewed, out of which 70,215 files were weeded out in accordance with the record retention schedule. Additionally, 4,125 e-files were reviewed, leading to the closure of 742 e-files.
To further support the objectives of the campaign, cleanliness drives were conducted at 629 sites, resulting in the freeing up of 25,876 sq. ft. of office space. This exercise not only improved the overall workspace environment but also generated revenue worth ₹28,15,248 through the disposal of obsolete materials. Moreover, 10 MP references were successfully disposed of during the same period.
A review meeting was convened by the Joint Secretary (Administration) and the Nodal Officer with the nodal representatives of various PSUs, attached, and subordinate offices. The meeting emphasized the importance of ensuring the recording and timely weeding out of files as per the record retention schedule. The officers were also instructed to prioritize the timely disposal of public grievances and appeals, which form a key focus area of the campaign.
In addition, the officials were directed to maintain cleanliness in all common areas, including corridors, lifts, and canteens, to ensure a hygienic and pleasant work environment.
The Department of Food and Public Distribution, along with its PSUs and subordinate offices, continues to make concerted efforts to achieve the targets set under Special Campaign 5.0. The Department remains committed to creating a visible and measurable impact across all identified areas of the campaign.
