Kewpie Corporation, the Japan-based food major globally known for its mayonnaise and sauces, is planning to invest Rs. 200 crore in setting up a food processing plant in Yamuna City, close to the upcoming Noida International Airport.
The proposed facility is part of the company’s expansion strategy in India’s fast-growing food processing sector. Officials from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) said senior representatives of Kewpie recently held discussions with the authority regarding land allocation and project feasibility.
The company is expected to submit a detailed project proposal soon, outlining the investment structure, production capacity and implementation timeline. The proposal will be reviewed by the YEIDA board and the Uttar Pradesh industries department for final approval.
The project is likely to require around 8–10 acres of land within the industrial zone. Proximity to the upcoming Jewar airport, strong expressway connectivity and developing logistics infrastructure have been cited as key advantages for establishing operations in the region.
Officials noted that the project could generate significant employment and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to position itself as a major food processing hub. The Yamuna Authority area has already attracted several industrial investments, and the entry of a global food brand is expected to further boost investor confidence.
The move is in line with India’s broader push to attract foreign direct investment and promote value-added manufacturing. Once approved, the Kewpie plant is expected to enhance domestic production while catering to the rising demand for processed and ready-to-eat food products in the country.
