Adani Agri Fresh Expands Beyond Apples, Enters Cherry and Stone Fruit Business in Himachal

Adani Agri Fresh Limited has announced its entry into the stone fruit segment, beginning with cherry procurement in Himachal Pradesh as part of its broader expansion in the horticulture business.

The company said it will commence cherry sourcing in the upcoming season and gradually expand into other stone fruits such as peaches and plums. The move marks a diversification beyond its long-standing apple business in the region.

To support the new category, the company has upgraded its controlled atmosphere storage infrastructure across six locations in Himachal Pradesh. Adani Agri Fresh currently operates a cumulative apple storage capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes in the state, aimed at extending shelf life, improving produce quality, and enabling wider market access for farmers.

According to Manish Agarwal, Business Head at Adani Agri Fresh, the expansion into cherries and other stone fruits builds on the company’s experience in apple procurement and its ongoing focus on improving farmer connectivity and price realisation.

Under its Farm-Pik brand, the company has procured more than 3 lakh metric tonnes of apples from over 17,000 farmers since 2006, with direct payouts estimated at around Rs 1,500 crore.

The company is also scaling up its Digital Mandi initiative, a platform that allows farmers to sell produce remotely without physically visiting procurement centres. The initiative is expected to expand into additional growing regions as the company strengthens its agri-supply chain network.

The expansion comes at a time when organised players are increasingly investing in cold-chain logistics, post-harvest infrastructure, and direct farmer sourcing to strengthen India’s fresh produce ecosystem.
