AGI Greenpac Breaks Ground on ₹1,000-Crore Aluminium Beverage Can Plant in Uttar Pradesh

AGI Greenpac has initiated construction of a large-scale aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Hathras, marking a significant expansion of its packaging footprint in India.

The greenfield project, spread across 34 acres and backed by an investment of ₹1,000 crore, is being developed as a high-tech manufacturing hub designed to meet global standards of efficiency, speed, and scalability. The company expects the facility to become operational in the first half of 2027.

At launch, the plant will house two advanced production lines with a combined installed capacity of 1.6 billion cans annually, with initial output projected at around 1.3 billion cans per year. The infrastructure has been designed with built-in flexibility, allowing each line to be upgraded to produce up to 1 billion cans annually through process enhancements and the integration of advanced necking technology—taking the total potential capacity beyond 2 billion cans per year.

The facility will cater to a wide spectrum of beverage segments, producing aluminium cans in standard, sleek, and slim formats suitable for carbonated drinks, beer, energy beverages, and ready-to-drink categories. Its multi-format capability is expected to enable the company to respond quickly to shifting consumer preferences and category demand.

Commenting on the development, Rajesh Khosla said the investment underscores the company’s confidence in India’s growth potential and the expanding opportunities in the packaging sector. He added that the project is aimed not only at increasing capacity but also at strengthening supply chain efficiencies, enhancing logistics capabilities, and advancing sustainable manufacturing practices, while contributing to regional economic development.
