After facing a setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic, almonds have made a strong recovery, with a remarkable 12,198 new products featuring almonds introduced on a global scale in 2022.
As of now, almonds have found their way into an array of food categories. The leading segments for new product introductions featuring almonds include confectionery, bakery, snacks, bars, cereals, and dairy. These six categories together contribute to an impressive 87% of the total almond-based product launches.
A noteworthy trend is the higher propensity of almond-incorporated products to include health claims. Over 20% of products containing almonds showcase specific health-related claims, with a significant portion highlighting their gluten-free nature.
This nut has clinched the top spot among various nuts globally, particularly in the context of products making plant-based, vegan, and vegetarian claims.
