Chai Point to double its store in next two years; to focus on vends and packaged business

India’s biggest tea cafe chain, Chai Point, will nearly double its stores over the next two years and will also expand its existing vending and packaged products business.

Based in Bangalore, this firm has about 170 stores and another 35 outlets yet to re-open after it shut down during COVID two years ago.

Chai Point said it will reach a door count of 325 in the next two years as overall mobility increases and people rejoin offices.

Amuleek Singh Bijral, cofounder of Mountain Trail Foods that runs Chai Point, said that they are already at a pre-pandemic level in terms of sales and footfalls, although there was a slight dip during the recent Omicron wave.

Because of delivery, the packaged products business and the fresh food and beverage parts of the business grew very well. Right now, offline channels are also opening up, not only facilitating higher levels of walk-ins, but office space is also going to see a very strong resurgence.
