Representatives from the Federation of Farmers’ Associations demonstrated outside the SP’s office in Chittoor a few days ago and filed a complaint with the SP against the Spandana programme.

Senthil Kumar, alleging that a food processing firm on the outskirts of Chittoor had cheated the mango growers by failing to pay for the stocks supplied to the factory, as well as failing to honour their promise of a 1 premium per kg of supply. The forum leaders said that despite the firm’s management agreeing to make payments within 10 days of supply, they had not received any money after 80 days.
M. Gopal Reddy, president of the FFA’s A.P. unit, V. Mohan Kumar, general secretary, FFA-Chittoor unit, K.R. Venkat Reddy, and vice-president N. Nageswara Raju met with the SP at the Spandana event here and handed over the complaint.
According to the forum’s organisers, on June 3, 2021, an agreement was reached between the Consortium of Indian Farmers’ Association (CIFA) and the food processing company about direct supply of mangoes to a major beverage sector. Mango producers in the Chittoor area, primarily from mandals in the Chittoor division, had given the business with 941 cargoes, according to the agreement.
According to CIFA chief adviser P. Chengal Reddy, despite repeated appeals to the food business, management has not responded.
