Fish seeds were released into HP lakes

Every state of India needs a lot of boosting economically as the pandemic has wriggled the systematic working of the businesses. Hence making an effort to lift the rural regions and improving the farmer’s income, Rural Development and Fisheries Minister Virender Kanwar recently unveiled a campaign to introduce tiny fish seedlings into different reservoirs, ponds and lakes of the state. He started the campaign from Andauli village in Bangana where he poured a bucket containing fingerlings (baby fish) in the Gobind Sagar reservoir.

As informed by Kanwar, the cost incurred of 6.64 lakh fingerlings of silver carp fish which were introduced into the water bodies was Rs. 17 lakh. He said fingerlings estimated at Rs 1.05 crore would be introduced into various lakes, including Chamera, Pong and Ranjit Sagar. Besides silver carp, some other fish species of sweet water like rohu, katla and mrigul would also be introduced. He said that the government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna to bring a blue revolution by establishing a robust fisheries management framework to the benefit and upliftment of the farmers.
