The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed CG Foods India Pvt Ltd to stop production of its ‘veg Bhujia namkeen’ after an inspection uncovered multiple food safety, hygiene and licensing violations at the company’s manufacturing facility in Roopangarh, Ajmer, Rajasthan.
The regulator said it has initiated enforcement action against the company over alleged unsafe processing, unlicensed manufacturing and the use of predated packaging.
During the inspection, officials found that floor-collected and broken noodles were being reprocessed into bhujia products without undergoing the required heat treatment. The facility was also found to be manufacturing ‘Wai-Wai MaMa’ and ‘Wai-Wai Mama Punte’ bhujia variants without the necessary licence, in violation of Section 31(1) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
FSSAI also flagged the use of predated packaging dates at the facility.
Over 32,000 kg of stock seized
As part of the enforcement action, FSSAI seized 32,107.2 kg of stock, including loose broken noodles, from the premises.
The inspection also identified several hygiene and documentation deficiencies, including inadequate pest-control records and other shortcomings related to food hygiene and safety, the regulator said.
FSSAI has collected samples from the facility for laboratory analysis. The authority said further legal proceedings have also been initiated in connection with the violations.
The action underscores the regulator’s continued scrutiny of food manufacturers over compliance with licensing, hygiene, processing and packaging requirements.
