J. P Dalal, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister noted a significant rise in the Agriculture Department’s budget allocation, which increased from 800 crores to 4,000 crores. This considerable increase underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to bolstering the agriculture sector and ensuring farmers’ well-being, he added.
During the three-day fruit festival’s concluding ceremony at the Sub-Tropical Fruits Centre in Ladwa, Kurukshetra, Dalal emphasised farmers’ ability to increase income through tropical horticulture production. He advised farmers to abandon traditional farming ways in favour of horticulture farming practises in order to maximise revenue while lowering farming costs.
The Minister also encouraged farmers to take advantage of the government’s unique incentive plan for establishing fruit orchards. Farmers can apply for funds to put up orchards with a range of fruit plants under this programme. He noted that the state government is aggressively supporting the building of fruit orchards since they give more profitability to farmers.
The Minister praised activities such as the fruit fair for offering technical information on horticultural crops. He proposed establishing horticulture tourist facilities to teach urban youngsters about the growing of fruits and other horticultural crops. He praised the department’s efforts to raise farmer awareness.
Dhuman Singh Kirmach, Vice-Chairman of the Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board, praised the people of Ladwa for their unique contribution to building the fruit facility.
According to Joginder Singh, Joint Director, Horticulture Department, approximately 1,500 farmers were trained on a variety of topics including mango restoration, high-density plantation, drip irrigation, disease management, canopy management in litchi, nursery management, peach cultivation, plum and pear intensive management, and advanced international techniques. Farmers were given practical demonstrations and technical expertise to help them increase fruit output and assure disease-free crops at the fruit festival.
The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister also acknowledged authorities, department representatives, and businesses for their educational booths. He praised the involvement of 1,500 children from 22 schools in the event’s numerous events.
