News from Japan: Hiroshima-based Murakami Farm Co. is the largest producer of sprouts in Japan. Murakami has made public the establishment of its 10th sprout production plant named as “Super Sprout Factory”, which is located in Hokum city, in Yamanashi territory. The structural completion of the plant makes it the largest, totally artificially-lit type plant factory in Japan and plans to expand the production capacity of broccoli super sprouts, a well-sought after product in the country.
The Super Sprout Factory by Murakami farm co. is the world’s largest and most advanced unit introducing a centrally control system that efficiently enables centralized management and detailed monitoring of the cultivation equipment and environment.
After this plant touches its full potential capacity, the production of broccoli super sprouts will be more than tripled. This super-ingredient vegetable, has higher concentrations of sulforaphane, an active compound that may benefit in cancer control, cholesterol and diabetes management, skin damage repair, autism resistor, and many more ailments.
Post-pandemic as consumers are becoming more health conscious, various research results on sulforaphane, have gained more attention, and shipments have increased more than seven times in the last 10 years a period from 2010 to 2020 as an assessment. The Super Sprout Factory will significantly expand the production capacity of this product and in addition, employees will be locally hired creating local employment for all.
