Karnataka Govt Intensifies Crackdown on Food Contamination Amid Idli Safety Concerns

The Karnataka government has ramped up efforts to tackle food contamination following rising concerns over the safety of popular South Indian staples like idlis and dosas. Authorities have launched stringent inspections across restaurants, street food vendors, and food manufacturing units to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.

Recent investigations have uncovered instances of poor food handling, substandard ingredients, and violations of food safety norms, prompting officials to take corrective action. The crackdown comes amid growing public concern over foodborne illnesses linked to adulterated and unhygienically prepared meals.

As part of the initiative, food safety teams are conducting surprise inspections, collecting samples for laboratory testing, and penalizing establishments that fail to meet regulatory standards. Officials have also urged consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of food adulteration.

With the state government reinforcing its commitment to food safety, businesses are being advised to maintain strict hygiene protocols to prevent contamination and protect public health.
