Knowledge Chamber with support of MoFPI organizes Agro & Food Processing conference to empower and educate MSMEs

Knowledge Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) with support of Ministry of Food Processing Industry (MoFPI) organized a conference on Agro and Food Processing Industry to promote and empower Micro Small Medium Enterprises n Jamnagar towards, ’Atmanirbhar Bharat’.  Conference was held at a local venue, which saw partaking by entrepreneurs, traders, exporters and various manufacturers from Agro and Food Processing Industry in Jamnagar.

Conference saw presence of Hon. Shri Raghavbhai PatelMinister – Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Government of Gujarat and Shri Ramnik Akbari, Vice President, Jamnagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dr Amit Joshi, Director, Knowledge Chamber Of Commerce & Industry and councils of industry associations and government institutions like NABARDGAIC (Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation), DIC (District Industries Center), SIDBI and JCCI (Jamnagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry) and others were seen present during the conference. Session received a great response with a participation of more than 150 business owners, farmers, traders, manufacturers and consultants from the district.

The objective of this conference was to spread awareness and talk about various Government benefits provided to Farmers, Entrepreneurs, Traders and emerging MSME businesses about credit linked subsidy, technology upgradation, skill development, GeM (Government E-market place), PLI schemes, export promotion market, license and certification and many other benefits and support given by the Government of India to scale and up-scale their business. To encourage small and medium entrepreneurs, few of the organizations who are doing an exceptional work in their respective fields were awarded during the event for Excellence in Product Innovation, Farm Mechanisation and Machinery and emerging MSMEs. 

Hon. Shri Raghav Patel –Minister – Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Government of Gujarat said, ‘Providing a platform to emerging MSME business is a key to support PM Modi’s vision, of ’Make in India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’. Seeing global market trend with CAGR of more than

2.4 percent, we believe opportunities are huge in Agro & Food Processing sector and with government of India’s support in ease of doing business, reaching global marketplace is now thinkable for MSME businesses. Under the scheme, 2,00,000 micro food processing units will be directly assisted with credit linked subsidy. Adequate assistance in common infrastructure and institutional architecture will be supported to accelerate the growth of the sector’.

Shri Ramnik Akbari, Vice President, Jamnagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry said, ‘The food processing sector plays an important role in increasing farm income and creating off-farm jobs, reducing post-harvest losses in agriculture and allied sector production through on- and off-farm investments in preservation and processing infrastructure. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is making all efforts to encourage investments across the value chain. Central Government and The State government has taken various initiatives in the marketing of agricultural produce for the regular and all-round development of agricultural Production and modern infrastructure and common facilities to encourage group of entrepreneurs to set up food processing unit. it is imperative to focus on women-led development to keep up the growth trajectory.’
