Ministry of FPI arranges a roundtable with heads of foreign missions in India

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries in India recently organized a roundtable discussion with the heads of foreign missions in India to discuss their participation in the upcoming World Food India (WFI) 2023 event. The second edition of WFI will take place from November 3–5, 2023, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event aims to showcase the Indian food processing sector and attract collaborations and investments from global stakeholders. This edition of WFI is being organized as part of the International Year of Millets 2023 activities, with a focus on millets, organic produce, and indigenous processed food.

The roundtable discussion was co-chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Smt: Anita Praveen, and the Special Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Shri Prabhat Kumar. Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Charge d’Affaires, and senior representatives from 47 countries participated in the interaction. The representatives from various ministries, departments, and organizations associated with organizing the event also attended the discussion.

During the interaction, the Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and the Special Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs briefed the representatives about the event and highlighted India’s unique contribution to global food security, its abundant resources, and its large consumer base, which makes it an attractive proposition for overseas stakeholders. They also discussed the different aspects of the event, including the exhibition showcasing various sub-sectors of food processing, technological innovations, sustainability, and related machinery.

The participants were informed about the preparations made for the event and the opportunities available for participating countries and businesses. The representatives of the embassies expressed their appreciation for the event’s significance in the global food scenario and assured their active participation and the presence of a strong food processing sectoral contingent from their respective countries.

World Food India 2023 adopts a “Whole of Government Approach” by partnering with different ministries, departments, and government organizations to ensure its success. Industry professionals’ meetings, business-to-business meetings, exhibitions, food street experiences, and a reverse buyer-seller meet are planned as part of the event, making it a unique value proposition for the participating stakeholders.
