Mondelez India is intensifying its transition toward agile, technology-driven supply chain operations as it prepares for its next phase of growth, placing digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI), and data integration at the centre of its 2026 strategy.
According to Venkat Venepally, Vice President – Supply Chain at Mondelez India, the company is moving away from traditional scale-focused supply chain models toward flexible, consumer-centric systems designed to respond faster to demand and market shifts. The shift reflects a broader industry trend where operational agility and connectivity are becoming as critical as production capacity.
To support this transformation, the FMCG major is investing in a robust data backbone and cloud-led architecture that connects its end-to-end value chain. The focus, Venepally noted, is on generating clean, usable data that can accelerate decision-making and enable more precise planning across markets and channels.
This connected ecosystem is already enabling micro-level demand forecasting across cities, sales channels, and consumption occasions. Over the past 12 to 18 months, the company has reported significant improvements in omnichannel predictability, driven by technology-enabled analytics.
At the manufacturing level, Mondelez India is deploying Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities and digital twin technologies to enhance operational efficiency. Digital twins alone have delivered efficiency gains and loss reductions of 15–20%, while planning twins are helping factories adjust production dynamically in response to fluctuating demand.
Logistics is another key focus area. The company is building an AI-powered control tower to optimize routing, fleet utilization, and delivery timelines. Once fully scaled, the system is expected to generate high single-digit cost improvements. Service timelines for omnichannel partners have already improved from seven days to three days and are projected to approach one day within the next year.
Technology-driven integration with suppliers and customers is also compressing response times significantly. Decision-making cycles that previously took up to a week are now being completed within a day, representing an estimated 80% reduction in turnaround time.
Looking ahead, Mondelez India’s investment of over ₹1,000 crore in its Sri City facility in Andhra Pradesh is set to anchor future expansion. The company believes that data-centric operations, logistics innovation, and connected manufacturing capacities will play a defining role in shaping its 2026 growth roadmap.
