Paras Dairy enters cream cheese market with Galacia, targets food-service sector

Paras Dairy, the dairy business of VRS Foods, has entered the cream cheese category with the launch of Galacia Cream Cheese, expanding its portfolio of value-added cheese products.

The product was launched at Anuga Select India in Mumbai, with the company targeting the institutional and professional food-service segments. These include bakeries, cafés, hotels, restaurants, cloud kitchens, quick-service restaurants (QSRs) and home bakers.

Galacia Cream Cheese is designed for a range of applications, including cheesecakes, frostings, desserts, sandwiches, wraps, dips and spreads.

Gajinder Nagar, Joint Managing Director, VRS Foods, said the company’s investment in the cheese business is aimed at strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and expanding its presence in value-added cheese categories.

Focus on institutional demand

According to Paras Dairy, the institutional segment accounts for around 85-90% of India’s cream cheese demand, making food service a key focus for its market-entry strategy.

The company plans to concentrate on cold-chain management, product consistency and application-led trials as it builds the Galacia brand.

Sampling and product trials will initially be conducted across Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi, with the company engaging directly with professional users to demonstrate applications and gather feedback.

VPS Malik, Chief Marketing Officer, VRS Foods, said the company expects cream cheese applications to expand across bakery and food-service formats and plans to develop the category through product trials and engagement with professional users.

₹100 crore investment in cheese business

Paras Dairy has invested more than ₹100 crore in its cheese business as it expands its value-added dairy portfolio.

The company’s existing cheese range includes mozzarella and cheese blocks, with distribution across North, West and South India through more than 300 distributors and a presence in over 125 cities.

The entry into cream cheese adds another category to the company’s growing cheese portfolio and gives it an opportunity to deepen its presence in the bakery and food-service markets.

Galacia Cream Cheese will be available in 400-gram and 1-kg packs. The 400-gram pack is aimed at smaller bakeries and home bakers, while the larger 1-kg format will primarily target HoReCa and other professional users.

Paras Dairy said its focus on professional applications is intended to build usage and familiarity with cream cheese across different food formats, as the company expands its presence in India’s value-added dairy market.
