Pringles removes the cap in order to reduce plastic waste

Pringles plans to replace the plastic lids on its 53g cans with a tight foil seal.

According to the brand, removing the plastic cap will result in a 48% reduction in plastic in each can. The packaging change is expected to save Australia 26 tons of plastic waste per year.

Kellogg’s Australia’s brand manager of snacks, Kavita Desai, described the move as a “promising first step” as the company looks to innovate and implement new ways to be more sustainable.

“While it may appear to be a minor change, it will have a significant impact on our environment.”

Coles now carries the lidless Pringles 53g Sour Cream and Onion variety, while the lidless Pringles 53g Original variety will be available in August. The brand guarantees that the taste, crunch, and flavours of the chips will not change.
