Haldiram’s has branded five Indian Railways locomotives, a sight to see!

 

As a big achievement for the Indian Railways the largest transport system of india, the Nagpur division of the Central Railways (CR) zone has accomplished the actual branding of five of its locomotives (electric engines) just within a span of 33 days.

 

The branding of electric engines is a part of the non-fare revenue scheme framed by the PiyushGoyal-led Railway Ministry. The Nagpur division of Central railways had allocated the branding of five locomotives through an open tender to M/S .Haldiram’s. The contract for the branding has been done at a total cost of Rs. 52 lakhs.

 

Haldiram’s, has themed up to decorate Indian railway locomotives displaying the brightest artworks of their famous traditional Indian mithai and namkeen such as Rasgulla, Gulab Jamun and Bhujia and snacks.

 

The artwork of the physical branding of locomotives has been approved by the Central Railways headquarters before augmenting the task. According to the Central Railways zone, the functioning routes of the branded locomotives has not been declared as yet.

 

The branding tender and the bagged project for all the five locomotives was completed in a span of only 33 days and this on time completion has led to a non-fare revenue milestone for the Railway Ministry. The Indian Railway Board has taken this initiative of the New, Innovative Non Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS) to promote new ideas and concepts related to passengers’ convenience and enhancing non-fare revenue policy of the network.

 

In the meantime, various other projects are underway pertaining to the non-fare revenue scheme that have been accepted by Indian Railways zones and await an early start. Under the East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone, Visakhapatnam stationhas recently launched an innovative digital kiosk and digital billboard involving human interaction interface system. The digital kiosk is anadvantage for passengers as it enables several facilities like free mobile and video calling, laptop charging points, interactive google maps etc.

 

Additionally, a gaming zone for waiting passengers has been started to entertain them who are in transit. Games include virtual-real games such as Air Hockey, Hit Mouse etc had also been opened at the station to entertain the passengers. Thus, both these facilities are the first-of-its kind initiative by the Railway Ministry and are a part of the non fare revenue scheme.
