Swiggy has associated with job platform Apna to generate 10,000 gig worker jobs for its quick commerce arm, Instamart, and with this partnership, Swiggy Instamart is planning to support and strengthen its delivery taskforce in tier 2 and 3 cities across India. The Quick Commerce delivery platform is present in over 25 cities. “
Kedar Gokhale, VP, operations, Swiggy, stated that Swiggy is present in 500 cities for food delivery and over 25 cities for Instamart, and the food tech company will continue to focus on onboarding partners from tier 2 and 3 cities. The partnership with Apna has facilitated expanding our delivery fleet to cater to the growing demand on Instamart in smaller cities, “added Kedar.
Nirmith Parikh, founder and CEO of Apna, said that with opportunities for delivery partners emerging in deeper pockets of the country, they intend to bridge the demand-supply gap for Swiggy and generate more job opportunities in the coming months.
As per industry reports, the delivery workforce in the country will be around 23.5 million by 2029–2030. As per Apna, in 2022, more than 1.5 million users from tier 2 and tier 3 cities applied for 3 million delivery roles on the platform.
Quick commerce firms have been ramping up hiring to meet consumer demands. According to RedSeer, the quick commerce domain aims to achieve USD 5.5 billion by 2025, and this rapid growth will increase the demand for delivery partners.
