UP brings policy to incentivize “FPOs” for 2 crore small farmers

To give freedom to the farmers, the Centre had brought in the new agriculture laws and following the footprint, Uttar Pradesh that falls under BJP regime has come out with a new policy on forming and incentivizing “Farmer Producer Organizations” (FPOs) of the two crore small and medium farmers in the state so they can get a better price for their produce.

According to the UP government, this policy will also help deliver schemes of the central and state government and impart the latest farming techniques in a better way to farmers who are part of the FPOs.

Emphasizing that this mission is to encourage the agricultural sector as an organised business and eliminate the uncertainties associated with the farming business. The FPOs will be made aatamnirbhar in terms of working by making them strong financially and technically.
Agriculture has the most less income compared to other sectors and hence the productivity in the agriculture sector needs expansion and the Farmer Producer Organisation Policy, 2020. Would be the pathway to this.

The UP government will also help in the registration of these FPOs, help them file annual returns as well as obtain different kinds of permissions or licenses. About 2,000 new FPOs are expected to be created in the next two years under the new policy.
