Vegetables and fruits at APMC to remain shut from Saturday

April 11, 2020

The wholesale market of vegetables, fruits, onion and potato markets at Vashi run by the Agriculture Produce Market Committee, will remain shut from 11th April till further orders, declared the Mumbai APMC official.

The Secretary of Mumbai APMC, Anil Chavan said, “This protective step is taken keeping in mind the rising cases of people affected by Covid-19. Farmers, however, can directly sell their produce to traders in Mumbai and there won’t be any shortage of food”.

A senior official of Mumbai APMC said, “The traders found it difficult to maintain social distancing inside the markets where around 15,000-20,000 people visit the site every day. While the vegetable, fruits and onion & potato markets will remain shut, the others will continue to operate”.

The APMC in Vashi has five mega markets of:

·        Food grains

·        Onion and potato
