Zomato and Shell Step In to Offer Summer Relief for Delivery Partners

As temperatures rise across India, Zomato has joined hands with Shell to provide much-needed summer support for its delivery partners. Under this initiative, select Shell fuel stations in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad will serve as relief points where Zomato delivery partners can pause, refresh and recover from the heat during their working hours.

The collaboration goes beyond offering a simple resting space. Delivery partners will have free access to clean drinking water at selected Shell fuel stations, helping them stay hydrated during long hours on the road. The initiative also includes vehicle care support, with complimentary oil checks and inspection services using Shell Lubricants to ensure that delivery vehicles remain road-ready through the summer season.

The partnership reflects the growing recognition of the important role delivery partners play in keeping urban India connected. As food delivery continues to remain an essential part of modern city life, the welfare of delivery partners has become an important area of focus for platforms and allied service providers.

Zomato has also highlighted its broader commitment towards delivery partner welfare during extreme weather conditions. The company provides a comprehensive insurance programme covering OPD reimbursement of up to Rs 5,000, hospitalisation coverage of up to Rs 1 lakh, and accidental death coverage of Rs 10 lakh, with the premiums borne by the company.

In addition, delivery partners and their immediate family members have access to teleconsultation services. In case of medical emergencies, 24×7 SOS support and ambulance services are available directly through the Zomato Delivery Partner app.

To further protect partners from harsh summer conditions, Zomato also offers subsidised cooling gear, including a UPF 50+ sunscreen jacket through its Delivery Partner app. The company monitors seasonal weather patterns and shares timely updates with delivery partners through in-app communication.

During extreme heat, Zomato also encourages customers to support delivery partners by offering water or a tip. The initiative underlines how small gestures, combined with structured welfare measures, can help improve comfort, safety and dignity for delivery partners working through challenging summer conditions.
