June 12, 2020

Signing agreements with Centrapay, a digital asset integrator, Coca-Cola Amatil now allows Australians and New Zealanders to pay for vending machine items using cryptocurrency or better known as bitcoin.

Making transaction with digital device will help reduce contacts though how much people might need to touch the vending machine which holds a major concern during the coronavirus pandemic. In this transaction, consumers will be able to use their Sylo Smart Wallet – a digital wallet available via Apple App and Google Play – to pay for the selected products.

Coca-Cola Amatil being the largest bottler and distributor in Asia Pacific, supports 140 brands of products and serves 270 million consumers. Amatil’s consumers can take help of their Sylo Smart Wallet at any one of Coca-Cola’s 2000+ vending machines with a QR code payment sticker.

These vending machines with a QR code payment sticker are located across Australia and New Zealand and will accept payments in cryptocurrency or other digital assets with a scan of the phone’s camera wherever Sylo Smart Wallet is installed. People only need to touch the vending machine just once to register their purchase.

Centrapay says that, up till now, integration complexity, lack of understanding and poor user experiences are the basic barriers to the adoption of Web 3 technology, such as digital identity and assets.

“We have solved both these issues,” announced Centrapay CEO Jerome Faury. “Centrapay is pioneering the way to enable this new internet of value and bring its benefits to both consumers and merchants. And it comes with the added benefit of reducing physical contact and addressing the hygiene concerns we’ve all become acutely aware of due to COVID-19.”
