Harinder Singh Oberoi, Director of the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management (NIFTEM), located in Kundli, recently participated in a roundtable conference in Canada. The primary aim of the conference was to bolster the research partnership in the food industry between NIFTEM and Saskatchewan University, Canada.
Moderated by Baljit Singh, Vice-President (Research) of the University of Saskatchewan, and presided over by Scott Moe, Premier of the Government of Saskatchewan, the conference delved into various aspects of strengthening collaboration. Discussions primarily centred around renewing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NIFTEM and the university, focusing on mutual areas of academic collaboration.
During the conference, attention was also drawn to the tripartite agreement on food industry collaboration between Saskatchewan University, NIFTEM-Kundli, and Nestle. This agreement aims to address critical areas such as food security, sustainable packaging, and smart protein production, emphasizing innovative solutions for the future of the food industry.
Moreover, potential collaborations between NIFTEM and WayCool Foods and Products Private Limited were explored, particularly in the realm of superfoods with export potential and the development of health snacks. These discussions underscore the commitment of NIFTEM to engage with industry partners for impactful research and development initiatives.
This participation highlights NIFTEM’s dedication to fostering international collaborations and leveraging expertise from global partners to advance research and innovation in the food industry. Such initiatives are instrumental in addressing contemporary challenges and driving sustainable growth in the sector.
