Zomato and MakeMyTrip Partner to Deliver Meals on Trains Across 130+ Stations

Travel and food-tech are joining forces as MakeMyTrip teams up with Zomato to offer on-seat meal delivery for train passengers. The new ‘Food on Train’ feature, announced Wednesday, will allow travelers booking via the MakeMyTrip app to order from more than 40,000 restaurants listed on Zomato across 130+ railway stations.

The service covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, with deliveries timed using MakeMyTrip’s Live Train Status feature to ensure meals arrive conveniently during the journey. Passengers can also pre-book meals up to seven days in advance using their PNR details.

The initiative comes amid rising demand for on-train catering. According to Indian Railways, its e-catering service served over 90,000 passengers daily in FY 2024–25, a 66% year-on-year jump. MakeMyTrip said initial trials of the service have received positive feedback and that it plans targeted campaigns to boost awareness.

To celebrate Diwali, MakeMyTrip will also offer complimentary Zomato coupons for travelers booking train tickets through its platform.

“With the launch of our Food on Train marketplace, we’re enhancing the travel experience by giving passengers greater choice and convenience. This partnership with Zomato will unlock one of the fastest-growing consumption opportunities in India’s mobility ecosystem,” said Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Business Officer (Flights, GCC, Corporate Travel) & Chief Marketing Officer, MakeMyTrip.

Zomato echoed the sentiment. “This collaboration enables passengers to order meals from their favorite restaurants via MakeMyTrip, with delivery directly to their seats. We’re excited about the value this brings to customers,” said Rahul Gupta, VP – Product, Zomato.

With this tie-up, MakeMyTrip strengthens its push to digitize every stage of train travel—from route suggestions and booking flexibility to live train tracking—while Zomato expands its footprint into India’s fast-growing mobility sector.
