India has recorded its highest-ever foodgrain production, touching 357 million tonnes in 2025, PM Modi announced during the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday. The milestone represents a sharp rise of 100 million tonnes over the last decade, signalling strong progress toward agricultural self-reliance.
Highlighting the achievement, the Prime Minister said the country has made “major success” in the agriculture sector, with consistent gains driven by improved practices, policy support, and increasing adoption of sustainable farming.
PM Modi also underscored the growing momentum behind natural farming, recalling his visit to Coimbatore for the South India Natural Farming Summit and Exhibition. He praised the surge of young professionals entering the field and the efforts across southern states to scale chemical-free, climate-smart agriculture.
During his Coimbatore visit on November 19, the Prime Minister released the 21st instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, interacted with local farmers, and reviewed exhibits showcasing organic inputs, agro-processing innovations, eco-friendly packaging, and indigenous technologies.
The Natural Farming Summit, held from November 19–21, aimed to strengthen sustainable, regenerative agriculture and build stronger market linkages for farmer-producer organisations and rural enterprises.
