Tate & Lyle’s Prebiotic Fibre Portfolio Gains Global Certification Boost

Tate & Lyle PLC has received NutraStrong Prebiotic Verified certification for four product lines within its prebiotic fibre portfolio, strengthening the company’s position in the science-backed nutrition and gut health ingredients segment.

The certification has been awarded under the NutraStrong Prebiotic Verified programme, which is recognised and endorsed by the Global Prebiotic Association. Tate & Lyle is also a member of the association. The certification provides independent third-party verification based on recognised scientific criteria, including scientific substantiation, ingredient quality and transparency.

The certified product ranges include Promitor Soluble Fibre, Sta-Lite Polydextrose, Euoligo Fos and Gosyan Gos. These ingredients form part of Tate & Lyle’s broader fibre portfolio, which is supported by a strong body of scientific research. Promitor Soluble Fibre alone is backed by more than 20 scientific studies, while hundreds of studies support the wider portfolio.

The NutraStrong verification process included a review of product specifications and analytical data, confirmation of ingredient dosage required to support prebiotic claims, and verification of laboratory and manufacturing accreditation. The assessment also required evidence from at least one randomised controlled trial demonstrating microbiome modulation and a related health benefit.

The certified ingredients support several benefit areas, including digestive health, mineral absorption for bone health, cognitive function, immunity, glycaemic control and satiety. With demand for fibre-enriched and gut health-supporting products growing across global markets, the certification gives food and beverage manufacturers greater confidence in using Tate & Lyle’s fibre solutions.

The portfolio can be used across a wide range of applications, including beverages, dairy, bakery products, snacks, cereals, bars and supplements. This makes the certification especially relevant at a time when consumers are increasingly looking for functional foods that support everyday health without compromising taste.

Len Monheit, Executive Director of the Global Prebiotic Association, congratulated Tate & Lyle on the achievement and said the certification was designed to recognise prebiotic products and suppliers with clinically validated, dose-dependent substantiation.

Katie Adolphus, Nutrition Science Lead, Fibres, Tate & Lyle, said the certification reflects the strength of the science behind the company’s fibre portfolio and its commitment to evidence-based nutrition. She added that fibre innovation must be grounded in credible science and delivered in ways that make a meaningful difference to everyday diets.

Kevin Yan, Vice President of Product Certifications at SGS Nutrasource, also congratulated Tate & Lyle, stating that the company’s commitment to quality, transparency and robust science sets an example for the industry. He said the NutraStrong programme is reserved for best-in-class branded ingredients and brings clarity and confidence to the rapidly evolving fibre market.
