Tribe Kombucha Expands Production with Automated Gujarat Facility

Tribe Kombucha has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility near Saputara in Gujarat, expanding its production capacity as demand for functional and probiotic beverages grows in India.

Located close to the Western Ghats, the facility has been developed specifically for kombucha production, with automation incorporated across key brewing and bottling processes. According to the company, the location also provides access to clean air and water, important factors in maintaining controlled fermentation conditions.

Spread across a one-lakh-sq.-ft. campus, the plant includes a 24,000-sq.-ft. precision-controlled production floor. Operated by a specialised team of 20 professionals, it has the capacity to manufacture up to 10 lakh units per month.

Automation across critical production stages is designed to improve consistency and hygiene while helping preserve the live probiotic cultures used in Tribe Kombucha. The additional capacity will support the company as it looks to expand distribution and meet growing demand across the country.

“This facility is the culmination of everything we set out to build when we started Tribe — a genuinely Indian Kombucha, brewed with the same rigor and care as anywhere in the world,” said Harshvardhan Chauhan, Founder, Tribe Kombucha.

Chauhan added that the new facility would enable the company to make kombucha more accessible to Indian consumers without compromising on the characteristics of the beverage.

Sustainability has also been incorporated into the plant’s operations. Surrounded by a 20-acre mango plantation, the facility follows a zero-waste approach under which residual tea and SCOBY — the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast used in kombucha fermentation — are converted into organic fertiliser for the surrounding mango groves.

Tribe also plans to install a solar power system at the facility in the coming months. The expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities as India’s kombucha and functional beverage segment continues to develop.
