The Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2026 is expected to bring together more than 30,000 participants from over 120 countries in New Delhi from October 23 to 25, creating a major platform for discussions on global rice trade, markets and emerging business opportunities.
According to the Indian Rice Exporters’ Federation (IREF), registrations for the conference have already crossed 19,193, including 2,135 international buyers.
BIRC brings together stakeholders from across the rice value chain, including exporters, importers, millers, traders, policymakers, researchers, logistics companies, financial institutions and technology providers. The platform focuses on trade, policy developments, innovation, market intelligence and business partnerships.
The strong response to the 2026 edition follows the inaugural conference in 2025, which attracted 10,854 participants, including 1,083 international buyers from more than 90 countries. The previous edition facilitated estimated trade commitments worth ₹33,453 crore covering around 8.63 million tonnes of rice.
The 2026 conference will introduce several initiatives aimed at providing the industry with better market intelligence and supporting business decisions. These include a coordinated global crop survey and future rice price projections based on anticipated global demand and supply.
The event will also feature business-focused knowledge sessions, app-enabled B2B meetings and curated experience zones showcasing developments and innovation across the rice industry.
Dev Garg, Vice President of IREF, said the conference was created to provide a common platform where the global rice industry could exchange ideas, develop partnerships and generate practical business outcomes.
The growing international participation in BIRC comes as India continues to play a significant role in the global rice market. The conference is expected to further connect Indian exporters and processors with international buyers while creating opportunities for trade and collaboration across the global rice value chain.
