Nestlé has expanded its presence in the fast-growing functional beverage segment with the launch of a collagen-infused sparkling water under its subsidiary Vital Proteins.
The new Collagen Sparkling Water combines Verisol collagen peptides with vitamin C and is positioned as a beauty-focused hydration drink. It is free from sugar and artificial sweeteners and is being introduced in flavours such as strawberry blossom, lemon lime, and blood orange.
The launch reflects rising consumer demand for “beauty-from-within” products, with skin, hair, and overall appearance emerging as key health priorities. Industry data indicates that collagen has become one of the most prominent ingredients in food and beverage innovations with beauty claims, rapidly entering the mainstream alongside protein and fibre.
Traditionally known for its powdered collagen supplements, Vital Proteins is now accelerating its shift toward ready-to-drink (RTD) formats. The move aligns with changing consumption patterns, where convenience and on-the-go nutrition are driving product development. The brand had entered the RTD category last year with a protein shake that also included collagen.
The collagen sparkling water rollout began in retail outlets last month, with a wider expansion planned for late spring. The product also positions Nestlé to compete more directly in the emerging collagen beverage space, where new entrants—including energy drink and wellness beverage brands—are exploring similar formulations.
Vital Proteins operates under Nestlé Health Science, which houses a growing portfolio of nutrition and wellness brands, as the company deepens its focus on functional and premium health-oriented products.
