Emami Agrotech Enters Branded Staples Market with Ambitious Growth Plans

Emami Agrotech Ltd, the Rs. 20,000-crore edible oil and food division of the Emami Group, has announced its entry into India’s Rs. 80,000-crore branded staples market with the launch of Emami Healthy & Tasty branded Atta, Maida, and sooji. This strategic move aims to scale the company’s food vertical to Rs. 2,000 crore within the next three to five years, expanding its staples portfolio and venturing into the ready-to-eat (RTE) market.

The company, which currently generates Rs. 100 crore from its food business, is focusing on consolidating its presence in eastern India before pursuing a nationwide rollout. “This is more than a category entry; it’s a purposeful step to become an integral part of Indian kitchens, from daily rituals to family meals,” said Emami Group Director Vibhash V Agarwal.

The launch capitalizes on the growing consumer preference for branded staples, driven by demand for hygiene, reliable packaging, and brand trust over unbranded alternatives. Emami Agrotech plans to leverage its robust distribution network and digitally enabled supply chain to capture this market momentum. Since its inception in 2010, the Healthy & Tasty brand has grown beyond edible oils to include spices and soya chunks, positioning the company as a comprehensive kitchen solutions provider.

Looking ahead, Emami Agrotech, an unlisted entity, is exploring the possibility of an initial public offering (IPO) within the next two to three years, signaling confidence in its growth trajectory.
