Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has acquired Southern Health Foods, the parent company of Tamil Nadu-based health brand Manna, in a move aimed at expanding its presence in the fast-growing nutrition and millet-based foods segment.
With this acquisition, RCPL deepens its foods and staples portfolio—already comprising brands such as Udhaiyam, Independence and SiL—while strengthening its foothold in health-oriented packaged foods. Manna has built a strong regional presence over more than two decades, particularly in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring southern markets, with products spanning millet-based staples, baby foods, health mixes, beverages and multigrain offerings.
The deal comes amid rising consumer preference for nutritious, functional and multigrain food options in India, driving growth across categories such as millets, oats and fortified staples. RCPL said the acquisition aligns with its broader strategy of delivering affordable, high-quality health foods while scaling its national footprint in the nutrition space.
T. Krishnakumar, Director at Reliance Consumer Products, described Manna as one of Tamil Nadu’s most trusted health-focused brands and said the addition would enhance RCPL’s ability to offer wholesome food choices across consumer segments. He added that RCPL’s distribution network, research and development capabilities, and supply-chain strength would help expand Manna beyond its current regional base and support its evolution into a pan-India brand.
Southern Health Foods operates across multiple health-food categories, including millets, oats, breakfast cereals, dry fruits and multigrain drink mixes. Its flagship Manna range has gained strong recall in emerging packaged segments such as millet flour and infant nutrition products.
The acquisition underscores RCPL’s accelerating push into India’s value-driven health foods market as it continues to build a diversified consumer goods portfolio.
