Swiggy Expands ‘Food on Train’ to 152 Stations, Ties Up Further with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation

Swiggy has announced a major expansion of its ‘Food on Train’ service in partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), doubling its network coverage over the past year.

The food delivery platform said its rail network footprint has grown 117% in 12 months — from 70 railway stations in February 2025 to 152 stations as of February 2026. The expanded supply chain now stretches across key transit points from Guwahati in the East to Rajkot in the West, and from Pathankot in the North to Tirunelveli in the South.

The company said the rapid scale-up is aimed at catering to growing demand for diverse and reliable meal options among train travelers nationwide.

Holi Specials Rolled Out

Coinciding with the festive travel rush, Swiggy has also introduced Holi special menus available between February 28 and March 8, 2026. Travelers can order festive favourites such as gujiya, pua and puran poli, delivered directly to their seats. The company is also offering promotional discounts, including a flat ₹125 off on orders above ₹399 during the period.

Swiggy said it has strengthened its ‘Train Friendly Dishes’ category by leveraging passenger data and demand trends across 40 popular rail cuisines to personalize meal recommendations. The segment now accounts for 22% of total train orders on the platform.

Focus on Transit Hubs

Deepak Maloo, Vice President – Food Strategy, Customer Experience & New Initiatives at Swiggy, said food plays a central role in the Indian train journey experience.

“We understand that food is intrinsic to train travel, and we remain committed to delivering quality meals to make journeys memorable for lakhs of travelers every day. This nationwide expansion is perfectly timed for the Holi travel rush,” he said.

Maloo added that the company is intensifying its focus on both major junctions and regional transit hubs such as Itarsi, Tirunelveli and Kharagpur, aiming to deepen penetration across the rail network.

As millions travel home for the Festival of Colours, Swiggy said its enhanced on-train delivery model seeks to recreate a “home-delivered” dining experience for passengers on the move.
