India successfully concluded the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under its BRICS Chairship 2026, with member countries adopting a Joint Declaration aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation, innovation and sustainable growth.
Held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting brought together Industry Ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries. Discussions focused on strengthening industrial capabilities, technological transformation and greater cooperation across key sectors.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal welcomed the delegates and highlighted the need for BRICS countries to leverage their complementary strengths to build resilient and future-ready industries. He noted that the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) had emerged as an important mechanism for advancing industrial collaboration among member countries.
A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration, which reflected the commitment of BRICS members to move from dialogue towards practical mechanisms for industrial cooperation.
Member countries also finalised a Framework for Cooperation under the SME Working Group to strengthen MSME ecosystems. Terms of Reference and an Action Plan were adopted for the BRICS Working Group on the Photovoltaic Industry, establishing a structured framework for cooperation in the sector.
India also proposed the creation of a BRICS Incubator Network and a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to encourage innovation-led growth and strengthen collaboration among startups across member countries.
Discussions additionally highlighted the importance of resilient transport and logistics systems for industry, including GIS-based infrastructure planning and city logistics planning.
Ministers and heads of delegations shared their respective national priorities and policy initiatives, with discussions covering digital transformation, industrial innovation, capacity building, resilient supply chains and inclusive industrial development.
Member countries reaffirmed PartNIR’s role as a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building and practical industrial collaboration. Delegations also welcomed the progress achieved during India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship.
Following the Industry Ministers’ Meeting, India hosted the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7. The discussions focused on strengthening the multilateral trading system, increasing MSME participation in international trade, developing resilient and diversified global value chains, and facilitating cross-border digitally delivered services.
The meetings reinforced India’s focus on deeper economic cooperation among BRICS economies while promoting resilient supply chains, innovation-led growth and greater participation of MSMEs in global trade.
