Dairy Brands Optimistic Amidst Rising Temperatures and Stable Costs

As temperatures soar and raw material costs stabilize, dairy companies are anticipating robust sales during the upcoming summer season. The positive outlook is fuelled by the expectation of favourable weather conditions and consistent input expenses, industry executives disclosed to leading media.

Bhupendra Suri, CEO of Godrej Jersey, highlighted the potential impact of weather patterns on sales, noting the significance of a strong summer season and favourable monsoons in driving demand for dairy products.

Mohit Khattar, CEO of Graviss Foods, Baskin Robbins, outlined the company’s growth projections, aiming for a minimum 17 to 20 percent year-on-year increase in sales. Khattar expressed optimism despite the upcoming elections and the IPL, anticipating a positive impact on sales.

Mother Dairy anticipates a significant surge in demand, projecting a 25 to 30 percent increase over last season’s figures.

Stability in raw material costs is contributing to the optimistic outlook, following significant pressure experienced by brands last year due to cattle shortages in the dairy industry. However, rising cocoa prices present a notable challenge for companies.

To capitalize on rising demand, brands are launching summer-focused products and expanding their ‘healthy dairy’ portfolios. Mother Dairy plans to introduce over 30 new products, including ice cream variants and Greek yoghurts.

Godrej Jersey has introduced products like Milky Shots and Recharge, with plans to expand its ice cream offerings to become a Rs. 100 crore brand within a couple of years. The company also intends to launch low-sugar variants to cater to health-conscious consumers.

Parag Milk Foods aims to transition into a health and nutrition brand, offering innovative protein solutions to meet the demands of health-conscious consumers.

Jash Shah, co-founder and CEO of Get-A-Whey, emphasized the growth potential of quick-commerce channels, with the company expecting to double its monthly revenue to Rs. 6–7 crore during the summer season.

As dairy brands gear up for increased demand amidst rising temperatures, the industry remains optimistic about capturing consumer interest and driving growth in the coming months.
