French head quartered dairy giant Danone is selling its 6.61% stake in Japanese company Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. This is in accordance with its focus on capital allocations discipline and balance sheet strength.
In spite of the sale, Danone has reconfirmed its long time commitment to promoting prebiotic. Also the existing commercial partnership including joint ventures in India and Vietnam will remain in place.
Danone’s collaboration with Yakult started in 2004. In 2014 Danone divested most of its 21.29% stakes in the company.
