DeHaat Launches NHB-Backed Grape Cluster Programme in Nashik to Boost Exports

DeHaat has rolled out a grape cluster development programme in Nashik in collaboration with the National Horticulture Board (NHB), under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. The initiative aims to enhance India’s competitiveness in global horticulture markets.

The programme comes at a time when international demand is shifting toward premium, licensed grape varieties, while Indian production continues to be dominated by traditional types like Thompson Seedless. This transition is reshaping export dynamics, with a greater focus on quality, consistency, and traceability.

Targeted at grape growers in Nashik—one of India’s key grape-producing hubs—the initiative is designed to help farmers adopt next-generation, export-oriented varieties. Early adopters are expected to benefit from improved market access, better pricing, and stronger buyer preference in global markets.

Under the programme, farmers will receive end-to-end support across the value chain. This includes assistance for area expansion, drip irrigation, compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), orchard rejuvenation, and post-harvest export linkages. Financial support of 30–50% will be provided on eligible components as per NHB guidelines.

The initiative will be implemented through DeHaat’s “Seeds to Market” platform, integrating advisory services, input delivery, aggregation, and export linkages—leveraging its existing operations in Nashik.

Industry experts note that as global markets increasingly prioritise consistency, shelf life, and consumer preferences, such programmes will be critical in helping Indian farmers transition toward high-value agriculture and strengthening the country’s position in premium fruit exports.
