EID Parry’s joins forces with Nutrition Innovation to produce Nucane, a low GI sugar

Sugar and nutraceutical producer EID Parry are going into a commercial partnership with food technology company Nutrition Innovation to manufacture Nucane low GI sugar.

Suresh, managing director, said that the partnership with Nutrition Innovation gives them access to Nucane low GI sugar technology to produce naturally low glycemic raw sugar, which extends our existing range of products and supports the growing global trend for less processed, less refined, brown sugars.

Nutrition Innovation is a Singapore-based company founded by Australian scientist Dr David Kannar. “By partnering with EID Parry, we can jointly give more consumers access to natural brown sugar solutions, which can improve both our choices in the market,” Dr. Kannar stated.

The process uses naturally occurring polyphenols in cane sugar that have been proven and tested to consistently lower the glycemic response of sucrose when consumed.

A Murugappa group company, EID Parry India, reported a consolidated net profit of Rs. 302.52 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2022, compared to a consolidated net loss of Rs. 1.62 crore in the corresponding year-ago quarter.

The company stated that it focused on sweating its assets and expanding in core areas while maintaining optimum cost levels, and that its debt reduction programmes assisted in significant cost reductions.
