Guwahati’s Salt Range Foods Sets Sights on Nationwide Retailing of Honey Products

In a bid to expand its market presence across India, Salt Range Foods, headquartered in Guwahati, is shifting its focus to retailing honey products. Having enjoyed a positive response in international export markets, the company now wants to tap into the burgeoning domestic demand for high-quality honey.

Historically, Salt Range Foods exported a staggering 95% of its honey production to destinations in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.

Salt Range Foods, originally established in 2014 as a honey distributor, has gradually evolved and established its production facility with an annual capacity of 2,000 tonnes. Presently, they have a retail presence solely in Guwahati and an online marketplace presence on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. Salt Range Foods Director Pawandeep Singh Kohli expressed the company’s commitment to expanding its retail presence through digital markets.
Kohli stated, “Honey is a highly adulterated product.

There is a huge demand for quality honey in India, and we want to tap into that demand. We believe our product fulfills the quality norms, considering we are exporting to several nations.”

The company has ambitious plans to increase its honey production capacity to 5,000 tonnes annually by 2026. Currently, Salt Range Foods sources honey from regions such as Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Bihar and maintains over 500 beehives. They offer an array of honey flavours, including mustard, Sundarban forest, litchi, and coriander, all under the brand name ‘Salt Range Foods.’

Salt Range Foods is currently showcasing its offerings at the World Food India event in the national capital, marking a significant step in its quest for nationwide retail expansion.
