Introspection

I have a small nuclear family where I and my husband both works. We’re part of the popular urban landscape. I cope with my job and everyday food. Many times, looking at my own struggle to manage, I used to order dinner from Zomato, which our monthly expense chart reflected significantly.

No doubt my other half wanted to help me out, but his inability to cook, the constraints of time, and laziness in procuring raw materials all contributed to his inactivity. And I would argue that if only there could be someone who could bring all the ingredients of a meal he wanted to cook and the recipe! Well, there should be. I mean, it’s not rocket science to gather all the ingredients of a meal and deliver them in a packet. There must be someone in this space already.

So, I started looking for such a service. In my hunt, I only came to know the term “meal-kit service”. I found some players in western countries like Hello Fresh, Make Good Food, Plated, Blue Apron, etc. These were established, and I was both shocked and embarrassed by my ignorance about something like this already existing. I was amazed to see something working smoothly in other countries and having an insignificant presence in ours—that too in a segment we are so proud of—cooking!
