PepsiCo India is making big changes to how its products move from farms to store shelves. The goal is to make the system faster, clearer, and more reliable as customer expectations continue to evolve.
The company says people today want to know where their food comes from and how it is grown. To meet these expectations, PepsiCo India is improving everything from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products.
A major part of this change is using digital technology. The company is connecting its systems for buying, storing, transporting, and forecasting demand so it can track everything in real time. This helps reduce delays, cut costs, and manage inventory better.
PepsiCo India works with more than 36,000 farmers across 14 states and focuses entirely on local sourcing. It supports farmers by providing quality seeds, farming advice, weather updates, and alerts about crop diseases.
The company has also set up soil testing centers, called “Mitti Jaanch Kendras,” in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. These centers help farmers understand soil health and use the right fertilizers to improve crop quality.
To protect farmers from price fluctuations, PepsiCo India offers pre-agreed prices for certain crops like potatoes. This ensures farmers earn a stable income, while the company gets a steady supply. Payments are made directly to farmers, making the process more transparent.
Another initiative, the “Partnership of Progress” program, uses advanced technology like satellite images and artificial intelligence. Through its Smart Farms project, farmers receive simple SMS updates that guide them on irrigation, crop care, and input usage.
The company is also improving storage and transportation. It is investing in cold storage and temperature-controlled transport to reduce food waste after harvest.
As part of its environmental efforts, PepsiCo India is introducing cleaner transport options. It has launched an electric vehicle corridor and added EV and CNG vehicles for deliveries, especially in city areas.
