PM-Kisan: Modi to Release ₹18,680 Crore for 9.34 Crore Farmer Families

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release more than ₹18,680 crore under the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on October 30, providing financial assistance to over 9.34 crore farmer families across India. The nationwide disbursement will take place during a public event in Bhildi town in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani announced.

Under the scheme, more than 52.33 lakh farmer families in Gujarat are expected to receive over ₹1,051 crore. The announcement comes as the government continues to use direct financial transfers to support agricultural households and provide additional income for meeting farm-related expenses.

Eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually under PM-Kisan, distributed in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The latest release follows 23 previous instalments through which more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has been disbursed nationwide. In Gujarat alone, beneficiaries have received over ₹24,137 crore, according to Vaghani.

The October 30 event will also highlight developments in Gujarat’s dairy and agricultural processing sectors. Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stones for two compressed biogas (CBG) plants being established by Banas Dairy in Tharad and Radhanpur.

The proposed Tharad facility will process 75 tonnes of cattle dung daily, while the Radhanpur plant will have a capacity of 100 tonnes per day. Once operational, the two facilities will increase the number of Bio-CNG plants under the Banas Model to six, with a combined cattle dung processing capacity of 515 tonnes daily.

The projects are expected to strengthen the utilisation of cattle waste, generate renewable energy and support efforts to reduce carbon emissions. According to the information shared by the state government, the six plants are estimated to prevent between 33,400 and 34,600 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Banaskantha Dairy currently supplies around 6,100 kg of Bio-CNG daily, with the fuel sold at subsidised rates.

Modi will also inaugurate the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC), developed at a cost of ₹328.77 crore. The facility is expected to support initiatives focused on bovine breeding and research, strengthening the scientific and technological foundations of the livestock sector.

Other projects scheduled for inauguration include Banas Dairy’s potato processing expansion and the automated storage and retrieval system at its ultra-high-temperature (UHT) processing facility. These investments reflect the growing emphasis on integrating dairy production, food processing, waste management and renewable energy within rural economic development.

To mark the PM-Kisan instalment release, Gujarat will organise 34 district-level events and more than 2,100 cluster-level programmes, with live broadcasts of the main event. Beneficiaries will also receive approval letters for various schemes administered by the state’s Agriculture and Horticulture departments.

Modi’s two-day Gujarat visit will conclude with his participation in the National Unity Day celebrations at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district on October 31, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The PM-Kisan disbursement is expected to provide immediate financial support to millions of agricultural households, while the accompanying dairy, biogas and food-processing initiatives underline the government’s broader focus on strengthening rural livelihoods and expanding value addition in agriculture.
