Odisha: An Emerging Food Processing Destination

A MAKE IN ODISHA CONCLAVE 2022

A session on “Odisha: An Emerging Destination for Food Processing Sector” was held on December 2, 2022. Then, on the third day of the “Make in Odisha Conclave 2022,” one of the biggest investment summits in India was held under the direction of the government of Odisha’s Minister of MSME, Pratap Keshari Deb.

The session’s honorary guest was Asit Kumar Tripathy, chairman of the WODC and principal adviser to the honourable chief minister of Odisha. In his welcoming speech, Saswat Mishra, Principal Secretary of MSME, provided background information on the event.

The keynote presentation was given by Asit Tripathy, Principal Advisor to the Hon. Chief Minister, who also officially opened two new, enlarged manufacturing facilities for M/s. Jai Bharat Masala and M/S. Britannia Industries Ltd.

Mohammad Sadique Alam, Smruti Ranjan Pradhan, Gautam Sharma, Ms. Dagmar Walter, Bidhan Das, and Rajen Padhi discussed the growth factors for the food processing industry, such as the opportunities that are available, the ease of doing business in Odisha, FDI and private sector-led local development strategies for sustainable growth, emerging trends and technology in packaging, and regulatory compliance and certifications, among other topics. Food processors, business executives, MSMEs, and other top authorities attended the workshop.

Introducing the Odisha Food Processing Policy 2022 was Pratap Keshari Deb. The Policy offers a plan for transforming Odisha into a significant centre for India’s food processing industry. During the event, a knowledge paper titled “Welcome to the land of Opportunities” for the food processing industry was also released.

During the session, the State received investment intent of Rs. 1443 Cr.
