The National Commission of Women (NCW) has launched a training and capacity-building program for women in dairy farming

The National Commission for Women has worked to assist women in reaching their full potential and contributing to the development of a sustainable economy

The NCW has started a nationwide training and capacity development program for women in dairy farming in an effort to empower rural women and make them financially independent. The Commission is working with agricultural colleges across India to identify and teach women involved in dairy farming and related activities in areas such as value addition, quality enhancement, packaging, and marketing of dairy products, among other things.

The inaugural session under the programme was held for women SHG groups at the Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Hisar, Haryana, in collaboration with the Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission. NCW Chairperson Smt. Rekha Sharma stated at the project’s inception that financial independence is critical to women’s empowerment. She claims that women in rural India are involved in every aspect of dairy farming yet are unable to achieve self-sufficiency.

NCW’s initiative seeks to empower women and assist them in achieving financial independence by teaching them in the quality upgrading of dairy products, value addition, packaging, improving shelf life, and selling their goods.

The National Commission for Women has worked to assist women in reaching their full potential and contributing to the development of a sustainable economy. The Commission has long advocated for women’s equality because it thinks that the economy cannot prosper if half of its people is prevented from functioning at their best.

Through scientific training and a variety of practical concepts, NCW seeks to assist women farmers and Self-Help Groups in efficiently conducting extension operations in the dairy farming industry. The Commission will teach women to improve their companies and encourage them to become entrepreneurs.

NCW will also choose trainers to further teach women entrepreneurs, milk cooperative societies managed by women, women self-help organisations, and so on. NCW intends to develop a sustainable and repeatable district level model in the dairy sector that can be replicated across the country’s dairy producing areas. The project’s goal is to tap into the enormous potential in communities by developing and marketing dairy products while also helping women to attain financial stability.
